Will Physical Therapy help my shoulder pain?

Physical therapy is frequently prescribed by your provider as the initial treatment for shoulder pain.  While it may not provide instant relief from your pain, there is continuing evidence that when done correctly and faithfully it can provide a lasting return to normal function.

As recently as last February, the British Medical Journal published a nice study that compared two groups of patients with "Impingment Syndrome".  Both received cortisone and lifestyle modifications, however the group that underwent a full course of supervised physical therapy had a significantly lower need for surgery and a more successful outcome.  If you are interested in more information about how physical therapy can help you, ask your provider, call our physical therapy department or check out our physical therapy website.
